I'm new here. I was looking at diesel Mercedes wagons for a few months without much success. I then started looking at Volvos for a diesel option but then realized the gas Volvo had some strong points for consideration. I actually drove a Volvo in the 70's (my girlfriend's) and came close to buying one in the 90's. Too make a long story short, I've found a 1988 240 DL on Craig's list that's expensive but seems to have many of the fix-it things already done. I plan to take a look at the car this week. I also a 1996 960 lined up for review. Both are high miles, being refurbished by mechanics for resell. I'm not sure it's appropriate to paste the links here, but both are in the Atlanta market CL. I could cut and paste the descriptions if that would help.
I guess I'm asking for advice on both the pre-purchase stuff (I've got the FAQ list for starters) as well as any suggestions in choosing between the 240 and 960, all other things being equal.
