Cleaning gas tank 120-130

What's the best option for cleaning an extremely rusty tank. Before I got it out I was going to open it up. That appears not practical. The tank is not rusted through anywhere but there is alot of rust shaking around. What with the baffels I'm not sure it would clean-up in a hot tank. Looking for advice.
