1974 142 auto to standard 140-160

Last winter I bought a 1974 142... but it is automatic. The carb needs rebuilt since it is not working as well.

I have decided that I want to get the car running before I go to university next fall for engineering (I won't have any time then). One thought I had was putting a 740 engine and transmission in it. From what I have heard, I'm better off rebuilding the carb and finding a standard transmission. So, I have a 1975 242 that was my dads and the body is completely gone on it. From what I've learned so far, I can take the transmission from it. I also have a 1973 140 flywheel (I'm a farmer, we have random stuff...). I have been told that I can use the clutch pedal from any 240 series but I have looked and to my eyes, I don't think that it will work. What will work?

Thank you for the comments so far. Hopefully I can get it going for prom!

One more thing, does the back axle in the automatic have the same gear ratio as the standard, and will it even be a problem?

Thanks to all!
