Good morning everyone, I'm looking for some help with my 1983 240DL. I'm trying to make it to 300k (4K) short. The other day it suddenly began running very very poorly. It won't idle, and would only run it I constantly tapped the pedal. Thinking the timing belt may have slipped a tooth or two, I replaced it but the problem remained the same. I then noticed that the rubber hose holding the flame trap had a hole in it and was very soft, prob. damaged from the backfiring that had been occuring. I then went to the Brickboard and found that the AMM could be the problem. Looking at different posts I saw that if I disconnected it and it ran that the AMM was the problem?
I disconnected the AMM and the car started and idled, but wouldn't acclerate it just idled. Does that indicate a defective AMM? I tring to verify that the AMM is the problem before I buy one.
Happy Easter and thanks for your help in advance.
