2200 Vortec w/ 5sp manual in 122 Wagon 120-130

I picked up an engine/trans setup out of a '98 S-10 this week. It's a 2.2L Vortec w/ a 5sp manual transmission. I have all the sensors, brain, minus the wiring harness. I'm going to remove the p/s pump, and any other accessories.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on dropping one of these into a 122? Now, I'm not looking to hear about how I should have dropped a V8 in or a 3800 series 6. I have what I have and that's what I'm going to use. It's a decent little engine and tranny w/ plenty of power to go around.

I'm opting to put it into my 122 since it already has a hydraulic clutch, and the carbs are shot and the engine really needs to be overhauled. I'd also like a 122 as a daily driver w/ a new EFI engine.

My main concern, before even getting everything into the garage is this: the 2.2 Vortec has the exhaust on the opposite side of the b18. I'm wondering what the best way to approach this will be, and if anyone has had experience w/ a left side exhaust on a 122, I would appreciate it.

I'm sure I'll have to do some trans tunnel mods, but this setup is small and I know there'll be plenty of room to work with ( I hope)

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

thanks,
J
