Power Antenna Mast Replacement 900

In the 1993 940T, does the power antenna mast come out? It's out of the car and apart except for the mast. I've tried rotating the outer housing---seems like a NO GO. Sprayed it with WD40 and am leaving it soak. I see the after market masts for sale. What's the SECRET in getting the old mast out??
