I bought some new rear control arm bushings for my front suspension from the volvo dealer but when the machinist pressed them in, he said the they pressed in too easy. He said he used some kind of adhesive that would keep them from moving around. Has anyone had this problem? Oh...also, after he had that problem, he wouldn't do the fronts. He said they were still good and they didn't need replacing even though I already had them out and had the new parts in hand. I ended up leaving and had to go find another machine shop that would press them.

On my last 240 (85 wagon) I replaced the same bushings with the same dealer parts and after a while, the one on the drivers side started floating and making a ratcheting noise when I applied the brakes or accelerated. I could feel it under my feet. I ended up going to the junk yard and getting another bracket and then buying another bushing from the dealer and replaced it again. That was a real hassle.

I'm wondering if I would damage the rubber in the bushing too much if I got my friend to Heliarc a couple of spot welds to really be sure it won't move. That type of weld is quick.

I'm off work for 5 days so I can replace everything in the front end of my 91 wagon and also replace the rear trailing arm bushings and the rear shocks. I'm on day 3.
