Hi Fellow BBer's,
I was coming home tonight after a ballgame, and had an hour's drive or so. About 10 minutes from home, the bulb failure light comes on. So I figured I had a running light out somewhere. Well, after 2-3 minutes, the light goes off. No big deal right? So a short time later, my dash light circuit dies. It stayed off for over 5 minutes, came back on for 1 minute, went back off, and stayed off til I parked the car. I turned off the ignition, turned it back on, and hit the headlamp switch. My lights are back, and they stayed on. The weird thing is that the lights for the little green indicator for the park lamps stayed on the whole time, and so did the surround light for the "A/C OFF" switch. I lost my backlighting circuit, including the trans quadrant, and junk box light. I thought I smelled electrical burning too...DEFINITELY NOT GOOD....SCARY...
I'm hoping the lighting circuit relay is maybe just going bad...this 960 is very complex, and if I start to have these kinds of issues, I'll consider getting rid of it, very expensive to fix. I'm not even sure where the relay might be located, although I know it probably is in the center cluster at the bottom.
If anybody had any ideas, or suggestions, please do so. I also would like to give javalion some cudos, as he saved me a lot of time finding a low side valve for the A/C the other day.
One last thing, if it makes any difference, the are NO modifications to ANY part of the harness on this car, other than the black "repo" box the dealer installed so I'll make my payments on time...
Sorry for the long post....
