strange problem with brake lights (driver side tail light goes out when brake light illuminate) 200 1989

When the headlights are off all brake lights work fine. But when I turn on the headlights bulb warning light comes on and both tail lights illuminate. But when I brake, the driver side tail light goes out (both filaments don't illuminate). I don't know where do even start with this one.
