940 noise reduction 900 1994

Has anyone had noise insulation panels installed to reduce road noise? I have a hearing problem and it's difficult to hear conversations while driving. I have estimates of $1000-1200 and was wondering if anyone has done this before and how effective it was. I would appreciate any feedback.
