Well this has stumped me. My daughter bought an '93 245 that had been sitting around too long. Needed new brakes, so we replace the brakes and thought to be out of the woods.
E-brake does not work! I have done this a half dozen times with our old '81 and never had this before. New rotors, new pads, and drum shoes, cables are moving freely, with the rear disks off the e-brake pull expands the shoes, they are seating nicely - nothing unusual I can see. So put it all back together this afternoon, put the wheels back on and while on the jack stands it will not rotate.
But putting it on the ground it rolls down our driveway. ??? The rear brakes are ATE, and parts were bought accordingly. They are not the adjustable kind in the back with the little "star" wheel. Cable are adjusted nicely - on 8 clicks the springs under the center console compress and the cables are tight.
So here is the question: what can be wrong? - Yes I have made stupid mistakes in the past ;-)
Thanks.
