I guess this is mostly just a report of my trip to Kar Basher's in Edmonton on Saturday. I found 2 242's there, an '82 and an '83 I think. Both weren't there a few weeks ago. Anyway, I bought both triple gauge clusters from them, and did get the senders for the ambient temp gauges. But I didn't know where to find the senders for the oil pressure gauges. I will have to go back for those ones.
Based on the old posts I read, those senders should be located on the passenger's side of the engine, somewhere near the oil filter, and have 2 connections on them (and look like little canisters). Right?
The plan is to fit these into my 740. The nice thing about those VDO gauges is that they are a standard 2-1/8" diameter and fit right into those a-pillar gauge pods that IPD sells (supposedly). Then I'll sell the extras.
Was a good day out there. If anyone has any comments I'd love to hear them! Both cars were rusty wrecks, basically, which was unfortunate.
