1994 940T w/TRW rack
I am replacing the two small lines on the TRW rack. I ordered the parts from Beechmont Volvo- 9140941, 1387453, and (4) Orings 1387453
The photo tells the story. The replacement lines are different. Beechmont verified the part numbers, these are the replacements.
The original lines have a short extension on the end that is fitted with an Oring. Tightening the nut compresses the Oring and provides a seal.
The new lines do not have that extension, just an all metal cone shape on the end.
What is the procedure for using the Orings with the new lines?? My limited experience tells me there has to be some compressable material in there to insure a seal.
I am thinking that they have to go into the opening on the rack and then possibly held in place with a small dab of silicone grease. Carefully insert the line and tighten the nut? This procedure seems risky.
The Orings are two different sizes ( the two on the left are larger) but came in a package with one part number. No explanation from the parts person when I asked about that.
What to do what to do? The rack is still being held at each end by the outer tie rod ends. I just dropped it down enough to get room to install the new lines.
Thanks for any insight.
