240 wiring short - where to begin???

86 240GL Wagon 220K miles
I have a left turn signal stuck on. I removed both bulbs and indicator light in instrument panel is still on. I unlugged relay and light is still on. I started checking the light holding brackets, I unplugged a wire to the rear left turn light and the indicator light in the instrument panel went out. I replced the front turn signal bulb and the turn front turn signal will flash quickly with the rear bulb out and the wire (orange) unpluged. With the rear light orange wire plugged into the light bracket if i wiggle the wiring harness the dash indicator light will flicker. I think I have a short in the harness. Any Help would be appreciated.
