I replaced one strut insert and found the rubber on the ball joint split - (?) - it was not a ragged edge so I do not think it was torn. I am not concluded if this happened or not while the wheel mounting hub had free rotation after disconnecting of the tie rod end.
My notes tell me that the ball joints are:
AAA:EUR L2021-18967 Ball Joint Kit (LH) & (RH) (order info)
EuroCom; TVA; 274118 & 274119 (delivered part info)
with 36000 miles on them.

The original ball joints had 114000 miles on them.
So do I go OEM? Or is the split more likely due to my strut insert replacement?
The more I work on my 240 DL the more OEM looks like what I need on performance parts to carry me until I just can't keep it on the road anymore.
