Plugs! 200 1988

Not much to talk about here - though am glad that BB has once again returned to the waking world. In the interim, I pulled the plugs from the '88 244 that I picked up around Thanksgiving holiday (lots going on of late and the old spark plug socket had gone missing somewhere along the line). They obviously hadn't been out of the head for some time:

Been in there a while...

Electrode gap is large across all of them - in the range of 0.045". All look to be running a bit rich, and plug four has the indication of a bit of oil on it. I'd noticed a puff of smoke on startup and wonder if it isn't either tired valve seals, a dirty flame trap or oil breather box, or small head gasket leak. After it's been running for a few minutes, the exhaust has no visible smoke or off scent... thoughts?

In other fun news, still more evidence that this thing has mainly seen dealer service - proper bosch plug wires with metal sheaths on the ends, gates belts, etc, etc..
