So, here is a short briefing of my problems with this car, I hope someone can help. I have a white 240 with 100k on the clock, great car, but the engine light keeps coming on and the car idles rough, and with that I get poor mileage (I get less than 240 miles on a full tank). Over the last 6 months, I changed the AMM, the accordion hose running from the AMM to the throttle body Occasionally, the car stalls and will not start again. Last week, it stopped while being driven and would not start. It turned, but would not start. I checked the corresponding fuse, the fuel pump relay, that made no difference. Went ahead and replaced the fuel pump and the filter with OEM Bosch, car started and ran fine for about a week. Check engine came back on, and I get the following codes: 1 1 3, 1 2 3 and 2 3 2.
This weekend, I took out the throttle body and gave it a good cleaning, using carburetor/choke cleaner. I applied this quite freely, all over the throttle body. Car restarted right away, idled around 1200 RPM, but really smooth with none of the rough idle and hesitation that I felt before. I left it running so I could read up on re adjusting idle speed. I then drove it for 5-10 minutes, no issues, let it idle but as soon as I drove it up on the driveway, the car stalled and refuses to start. Any thoughts on what to do next, this issue has been driving me absolutely nuts. I again checked the fuses, relay and I can hear the pump clicking, so I think I have done something while cleaning the throttle body.
