Defective OD solenoid switch 200 1987

Can anyone tell me what are the symptoms of a defective OD relay of an AW-71 automatic transmission?

Mine started to act up by constantly showing of the "OD" indicator light and acceleration was on a snail-pace.

When I removed the OD relay, the OD light disappeared and acceleration went back to normal.

Invaluable inputs will be very much appreciated.
