After replacing the water pump on my 1991 740 Turbowagon, still had extreme water loss. Some is seen bubbling at joint of exhaust manifold/turbo mount on start up, but that has been happening for many months.. probably since I have had it. Now however, I lose the whole resevoir of water (in canister) within 5 miles. No drips seen, idles really good, after a little rough start, and runs good, with no discernable missing. When I stop, pressure is pushing out of overflow canister cap, and tank is empty. Also, smells of exhaust when I smell that tank. It appears that a small amount of water is blowing out of the tank, either from cap area or bottom of tank area, near hose connection.
I also noticed when I removed all turbo hoses/ water hoses that there were a few drops of water mixed with the oil in the hose leading to the intercooler, but no water seen when intercooler was drained. The only way that water could have gotten into that hose was from the turbo. Does that mean that the rest of the water is flowing out toward the muffler? If so, why do I not have steam coming out of exhaust? PLEASE HELP ME SAVE THIS CAR... I LOVE IT!!! THANKS
