I'm helping a friend getting a 544 back on the road that hasn't run for 12 years.WE now have it running, but still a a few small items left to fix before it goes on the road. In the process of doing this, we robbed an ignition switch and coil from a donor car of the same year.(I think!) If the marking on the coil are correct, it is a 12 volt coil. Did some 544's have 12 volt systems, or is this a retrofit? It looks the same as the original 6 volt.We did not use the robbed coil, but am wondering whether it is usable? Also is there any way to check the coil statically?
