A/C compresser 900 1994

I have a 1994 940 wagon. The A/C compresser runs sometime. It may run for a while then shut off. I did a direct hookup to battery and it would run fine. When I took off the lead, the compresser would keep running and sometimes not. I think it may be a relay, but I cannot find which one it is. Any sugguestions would help.
