1995 940 transmission won't shift out of first gear 900 1995

Hey everybody,
My 1995 940 wagon will no longer shift out of first gear at all. At first it would be stuck in first for a little while, then shift into second gear. But now it will not shift out of first gear at all. It just revs up to about 5000rpms, then still does not shift. No slamming into the next gear or anything. Its like having a one speed car. I also still have my reverse gear, so the only gears I have are 1st & reverse. What could be causing this problem? Is it some fuse or electrical part, or something bigger(i.e. mechanical/rebuild required)?
