Hello. This is my first time on Brickboard!
I'm the proud owner of a coveted 1993 245, bright red, with only 117,000 miles on her.
My family owned a 3 generation Volvo dealership in PA, and I bought "Gertrude" from a "little old lady" who'd bought and serviced the car from us. I actually wrote her a letter asking if I could buy her car... I was 24 at the time... not the typical car for a young woman not far out of college.
Anyyyyyyyway...
Fast forward about 13 years and Gertrude is still going strong. She's now a "second car" and I tend to use her more for taking the dog on hikes and hauling plants from the garden center. But she's still in pristine condition.
LITERALLY the only problem (after I fixed the wiring harness issue to the tailgate) is an intermittant (but getting worse) overdrive issue. The light comes on/stays on on it's own and won't go off when I depress the gear button.
I'd like to replace the relay myself, as I think it sounds pretty easy. Can someone confirm the location of the overdrive relay and how I can access it before I start taking things apart? Also, what's the best place to buy a replacement relay (other than my dealer, which is an option but probably not the cheapest).
I've always serviced her at the dealership (we sold our own dealership years ago, but I take her to the local Volvo place) but would like to try to save a little money. I need to get Gertrude ready for a 6 hour road trip to the Adirondacks in two weeks.
Thanks!
Kirsten
