I acquired a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo the other day for $300 and decided to change the timing belt and related items as a precaution before driving the vehicle. When I got to the crank bolt there was no way to hold the harmonic balancer (these things are a lot more crowded in there than the Volvo), so I stuck a piece of clothes line into the number one cylinder through the spark plug port, locked the engine up and removed the bolt.
This site is a fount of information that cannot be had for any other vehicle make that I know of. The rope trick was learned here and makes me look pretty sharp in the company of other DIYs.
