About two weeks ago, I posted about my transmission (AW-70) not shifting correctly. It will not shift out of 1st gear when driving it, but only on occassion when I let off the gas for a second, then gas it again, then goes into 2nd. It will only do this if it feels the mood. Sometimes going into third.. I really can't tell, since the engine is revved so high.
The first thing I figured was to do a full transmission flush. I know how to do these correctly, and have done them in the past. Replaced the tranny filter, pan gasket of course. Still, same symptom. I decided it may be the kick down cable, maybe not, so I decided to give it a go.. let me tell you, what a job! Intricacy, and a whole lot of patience fitting a small cable into a small pulley groove.. and yes, afterwards this required a shower with nothing else other than dawn soap.
The car has all the same symptoms of not shifting correctly. I put the Volvo into the desert pasture for awhile until I can afford to throw more money at it later.
Does anyone have any ideas they want to throw out?
Thinking maybe I should just swap the tranny out when I have the bread for it.
PS, my '57 VW oval window is giving me hell as well. Had to throw that one in.
