trunk lid seal 120-130 1966

I have removed the old one. I plan to get a wire wheel for my angle grinder and clean out the trough where it was. There is some rust down in there, with paint long-ago flaked off. I plan to remove the trunk lid and clean the rust off the bottom edge of that too.

I have a new seal and I don't have glue for it yet. The primer I have is "Duplicolor Self-Etching Primer" in a spray can.

Any tips? Do I need to get the anti-rust paint that IPD sells? I want it to last, as this is one of a very few rust places on this old sweedie.
