Should I let my brother clean my flame trap? and more...

I'm in Maryland right now, and I have a car parked in California. My little brother needs a car to drive around, but I haven't finished my TLC on it.

This is on an 84 244 with really bad rear bushings.

The overdrive doesn't work, but he's just going to use it around town.
My concerns are that the idle is unstable, and I think it's because of the AMM. I bought another AMM off ebay, but it arrived after I left.

I could let him borrow it, but it's been running in limp-home mode, and got 17mpg on an all-highway trip. He could install the AMM himself, and IF that is the problem, that's great. I disassembled and cleaned the IAC motor, cleaned the TB, confirmed TPS clicked, and still had idle issues.

I had an unpleasant time removing the IAC, and my other car's turbo, so it doesn't have a flame trap. I replaced its Breather Box once, and it wasn't too bad, but the B23F has more stuff in the way.

What's the difficulty level for replacing the flame trap? Or where is the flame trap itself? On top of the breather box?

Thanks,
William
