My FI 1800 has began exhibiting the following symptoms:
When run on a hot day and left to sit for 10-15 minutes, it coughs and sputters when I try to re-start it, running at 300-400 rpm while I pump the gas and try not to look so embarrassed.
Fine in cool weather, fine when engine is cold, fine if I re-start it before that 10 minutes.
It almost seems as if the hot engine is causing a vapor lock in the fuel rail, but I don't think that can be. I tried putting a wet rag on the fuel rail and it didn't help. Could it be the fuel pump?
I realize the solution is to take longer, more civilized lunches, but I'm seeking a more permanent fix.
