After five years overseas (non-military), I'm heading back to the United States to none other than the Volvo mecca that is known as Portland, Oregon. I've departed with two great Volvos, a 1994 945T and a 1990 765T which I brought back from the low mileage 1980 242GT (K-jet) which my parents have had in their heated garage for the time that I've been gone. God bless them.
I need to get the car running again, at least to the point that it can be driven onto the car carrier for delivery to Portland. By instruction, my parents have done nothing to the car for the whole time it has been sitting. It's resting on it's tires (due for replacement before I left), and I put in fuel stabilizer when I originally parked it. My father just sniffed the filler neck and it still smells like gasoline thankfully. I'm planning on sucking out the old gas and filling with fresh...
My plan is to replace the all fluids, fuel filters, belts, and possibly new water pump and hoses. I also will squirt a little more oil into the spark plug holes.
Can anyone recommend any maintenance that I should consider doing?
Thanks, looking forward to being a part of the Brickboard community again.
