Alternator & AMM issues 200

I bought my daughter 1990 244 six months ago. It had several issues, most of which were due to the PO (a young kid). It didn't want to run/idle, and the car was not charging (even thought the PO had installed a new alt) not a problem. I installed a amm from my 87 245, and also the battery and drove it home (about 25mls). When I figuring out the charging issue I found that the wire on the back of the alt that connects with a nut had come off. I reinstalled it and the car was charging. A couple of months later the car stopped charging, and due to my work schedule, we took it to a local shop. They tested it out and said that the alt was not charging. They installed a new one, problem solved... till now a couple of months later and the cars not charging again. I've got 12.5v at the battery, at idle or revving it. I'm somewhat frustrated I don't want to keep replacing alts.

AMM As I said earlier I had installed the AMM from my 87 and the car ran better. Still had a miss though. Did a tune up (good quality cap, rotor, plugs, and wires) it ran better but still a miss. It was livable though. Couple of months later running like crap. Put an AMM from a 91 245 parts car, it actually ran worse with it plugged in. The preheat hose has been disabled BTW. Now I have three AMM and don't know which is which? What's the right PN#? And is there another reason that the car is running so poorly?

Doug
