Alternator & AMM issues 200 1990

Hi Doug,

The alternator issue probably needs a revisit by the folks you've paid to fix it before, given the investment they've gotten from you. Aftermarket rebuilts are notorious for early failures, but misdiagnosis is just as probable. Loose belts, slipping harmonic balancer, and neglected ground wires often lead volvo-inexperienced techs to replace alternators.

The correct p/n for your AMM ends in 016. The adjustable one you put in from your 87 will function, but the correct one has no adjustment. Be sure to reset the computer's adapting by momentarily removing the 25A blade fuse, after making any changes, then give it 10 miles or so to re-learn.
