Hello,
Have a leak in the front transmission cooler line all of a sudden. Could be the fact that this is a 24 year old 245 Automatic with 286K on it. Noticed a trail of smoke coming home and after checking the oil and coolant level found nothing amiss. Sliding under the car and one look at the header pipe and the smoke source was sort of clear. The transmission level was just a little low, so I have decided to declare the vent as not the issue.
The washer that holds the o ring to the block spins so that is a red flag. I was able remove the back connector and change that o ring without too much trouble. That o ring was harder than Chinese arithmetic by the way and flattened. That front one is up higher on the block and everything seems to be the way. That is I hope the actual area of the leak and not the kick down cable o ring. They are in the same place and one you get the car warm the heat from the header pipe it's sort of hard to be sure exactly what one is the leak source. For now I am go to "assume" it's the cooling line connector.
So besides removing the back cooling line and dropping the header pipe to be able to get that sucker loose. Anybody have good tricks or bright ideas?
Thanks in advance for you help,
Paul
