Phil,
I was looking at the ad for your engine for sale (wiping drool from keyboard now...), and it seems your head has a blocked port in front of the intake, below the hose to the radiator.
I am asking because I acquired a head on ebay years ago that has a hole there (with two smaller for bolts, looks like). I don't have a pic now, but the head also came with the injection ports blocked, double valve springs, and it looks like it was given a good job.
I am sending my head out to the machine shop to get cleaned and refurb'd, but this one could do the job.
Hope the sale goes ok!
