Hiya Folks,
Hope all's aces with you, yours, your bricks of Swedish steel.
Welp, sometime ago I asked about what to do with the stock HA-4120 amp that comes mounted to the rear (dash center console) courtesy compartment. That compartment has that funky grey quasi-felt lining and is directly in front of the transmission shift lever.
The TD-613 radio quit sometime ago.
So, prior to a road trip in the mighty 1991 240 (M47 II stick, moon roof - JOY!!!!), I kitted up one of two spare HA-4120 amps to a hard drive power supply with wiring harness for four speakers. I then used one of several spare harnesses from other 1991-1993 Volvo 240s I found at the wonderful Portland, OR yunkyards, then plugged the headphone output from my portable CD player into it.
Works awesomely!
I cut the cable with the DIN connectors at each end in half. Found the pinouts and mapped the wires to left and right, front and rear inputs to the CD player stereo out and one wire for the +12 VDC on one half of that cable (with the DIN connectors.
Plugged it into the HA-4120 DIN jack and wired up the remote switch for the amp. Reused a switch mounted in a black accessory thing that snaps into the dront of the center dash console where the hazard lights, AC, rear demist, and so forth are located.
Works awesomely! No interference in spite of the original shielded cable. I did replace the somewhat owld factory speakers with Infinity speakers some years ago.
Just an FYI.
Hope that helps.
Egg Nawg.
