How to prepare for starting my 87 740Turbo after 1 year 700 1987

My 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo has been standing in the driveway for about 1 year. It had a half tank full of gas when I stopped using it. Was in good condition except battery ran out and I procrastinated to get it replace. (Don't ask why!)
Reading various tips it appears as if the GAS can become "bad" and affect the fuel lines and clog the system (due to gel formation).

What are my best options to get it started. I also have to smog it....Aghhh!
