easy way to see if AW71 has notch for crank sensor? 700

It's close to absolute zero temperature outside and I need to determine if my sons 1990 740 Turbo Wagon AW71 transmission has or does not have the notch for the crank sensor. This model year can have it or not. Is there some place to look on the outside of the tranny and what am I looking for?
