I've owned 240s in the past and have an opportunity to own a 1991 940e. The seller is accepting best offer. The paint is faded and . Apparently, it has a blown headgasket and the owner's mechanic says it's not worth it to fix. I wrote to the seller asking for mileage and AC/heater doesn't work.
I've done a headgasket successfully on a B21F and feel fairly confident that I can do this one. I also have access to a good B230F head. My questions are:
what's the worst case scenario for repairing this car, e.g. bad catalytic converter and oxygen sensor from a blow headgasket, cracked block?
I'm in Northern California and just started looking for a 940e. What's a fair price to pay, assuming the guy won't give me the car for free to get it off of his hands?
