If a 240 sits unused for a while, how long should a decent battery keep a enough charge to start the car?

My in-law's 240 sat unused for about 3 weeks and wouldn't start. I jumped it and ran it for 15 to 20 minutes. The next morning it would not start.

Its in Michigan so it has been cold.
