electric problems 700 1988

Hello, I have a 1988 740 turbo wagon with manual transmission. This is not a serios problem (as far as I know) just irritating.
The problem: There is a constant ringing, like ding, ding, ding, like when you have the door open, when I have the headlights off. I turn the headlights on and it stops.
The suspected cause: While putting in a radio I must have done something wrong. While driving one day the radio cut out and the ringing began (headlights were off) so I unhooked the radio head from the elecrical quick connect. While doing so I noticed a yellow wire had fried/burnt up. I have been trying to figure out what the wire does, as it is unmarked, and have come up with nothing.
Other problems caused: As a result of this wiring debocle no interior lights work, and the heated seats also do not work.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks for reading
Benton
