245 Wagon Overheating 200 1989

I just replaced the head and cam on my 245 wagon. (The old cam seized and ruined the original head). The car starts fine and purrs like a kitten. After 10 minutes the cars starts to run hot and rough. I replaced the thermostat during the rebuild and it appears to be working fine. I also checked the water pump during the rebuild and it looked ok. I am worried about the oil pump. I have 2 questions. What could be causing the car to overheat and how can I check to see if the oil pump is working properly. Thanks!
