Overheating without other immediate symptoms can be a sign of a head gasket problem. I had this on my RIP 1979 245.
Car ran hot, the needle got close but never into the red. Seemed OK otherwise.
Quick test: With engine dead cold, raise hood, remove coolant reservoir cap, position yourself so that you can see the opening when you start the engine.
Start and watch. If coolant wells up and out of the tank, there is compression pressure getting into the cooling system. On my 245, the leak seemed to be reduced after the engine heated to normal. There was not a lot of coolant loss. Since I planned to replace the car, I just ran it that way a few years.
Was the cause of the camshaft seizing apparent? My guess would be too little oil to the camshaft bearings.
Good Luck,
Bob
