oil pressure light just came on - is it Definitely the oil pump? 200 1992

Got a sweet little 92 - bought about 1.5 years ago. Did a crap load of PM items after I just bought it and now starting to drive it on a semi-regular basis. Only put about 8K on her since I bought it - - she's got 169K on her right now.

Been running perfect for the past few months - no starting or running issues and no warning lights.

Yesterday I was driving it to a friend's house and the oil pressure light came on. I pulled over and turned it off. Double checked the oil level, and looked around for any wires that might have gotten loosened - didn't see anything except the oil temp sensor wire (beside altenator) is naked and frayed for about the last 1/4 inch before the connector to the sensor.

When I got back in and started it up - the Oil Pressure light came on and stayed on till I got her home. (Was not happy about driving her like that !!!!!!)

I really am not looking forward to Jacking up the engine so I can drop the pan - - - any other suggestions what it might be besides the Oil pump!!!!

If it is the oil pump - any suggestions as were to get the best replacement. I know how the rebuilts at the local auto warehouse are not known to be the best - and I really do NOT want to do this multiple times!!!!!

Many thanks for your responses
Charles.
