The other day I was driving along at 50 mph and went to pass a truck. I punched it, the car went into the next lower gear and I passed sucessfully. The trans then went back into 4th gear without a problem. Then next morning, when I got up to 40-45mph and waited for it to shift into 4th, it didn't engage until around 62mph. I have an OD bypass plate on, so there is no solenoid to worry about. I have noticed lately (6 months) that when I first drive the car from cold, 4th gear won't engage until around 55mph. Once it's warmed up a few miles, it will engage at 40mph like it did before the delay. I checked the trans fluid level, it's fine and the kickdown cable "click" it fine as is the play and distance of the cable crimp from the adjustment nut on the throttle wheel. What's my next step in checking? Thanks guys.....and gals out there with the answer.
