Yesterday, I was headed to work in Miami when I noticed some decided slow acceleration from a stop. It was almost like the engine was starved. I may have noticed this intermittent problem before but it usually happened in the past when coming off expressways, turnpikes, etc. I got our of work into a blazing summer storm (summer is already here in SoFla) and could not pop the hood so I risked the drive home. I live 30 miles away. I noticed the same problem on the way home but seem to be able to make it. About a block from home the motor just shut down, all the idiot lights lit up on the dash and I was able to glide the old brick onto the swale in front of my house. I tried to crank the engine with no luck. I get crank but no start. I read the FAQ and waited until the rains stopped. Fighting the gnats I went out in failing light last night and pulled the throttle body. It was not that dirty but I cleaned it up. I got some over-spray into the manifold when cleaning off that surface. When I tried the engine again the over-spray hit the pistons for a few seconds and then the engine kicked off. I am assuming I am getting spark and air due to the ignition of the over-spray of throttle body cleaner. The problem appears to be lack of fuel. The fuel filter was changed about two years ago, maybe less. I am thinking this might be the fuel relay but before I buy a new one could someone please give me direction of other places to look? Also, I am partially physically disabled (and otherwise mechanically challenged) so there is a limit to what I can do on this car with a wrench so please be explicit in your suggestions....!
