Got my volvo out of storage yesterday, and could not get the clutch to work. Immediately suspected the slave cyl as after long storage (18 months) these go dry sometimes. Entreated a passerby to come into my dark garage to help bleed the slave.....even after bleeding I could not get it to work. Pulled the slave, checked the seal and bore all looked good. Bled the slave the easy way ie, disconnected from engine hanging bleed up, and gravity fed. reinstalled still no go. Noticed that by positioning myself properly I could depress clutch pedal and still see the slave and arm...hmm slave has full travel, pushing arm full stroke etc....then I remembered.
Handbrake on, in gear, clutch depressed, started engine clutch broke free.
This is the 1st time I have had this problem, but I don't usually store for more than 6 months.
I know there are other tricks for breaking the clutch free, can't rember them right now.
BTW car stored indoors in a heated ( but slightly damp) space....go figure.
p.s. the action on the C pedal is so smooth can barely tell the difference between a empty and full hydraulic system.
