Interesting Evening:
I returned last night from an awesome week of beer drinking in Portland Oregon. I jumped in my volvo, fired her up, ran for 20 seconds...died. Couldn't restart.
After a few minutes of the obvious I looked for spark coming from the coil by grounding it while turning it over. Nothing.
After more futzing around I noticed that the coil bracket was loose enough for the coil to be slightly loose. It had slid far enough down to where the negative & positive terminals were touching the bracket and possibly grounding it. I slid the coil up an inch or so, and she fired right up.
I thought the coil ran to ground already, so I'm surprised this ended with a no spark situation. Anybody have ever seen this before? I recommend everyone check the tightness of their coil holder!
Sidenote: In my haste to figure this out (it was now 3 am), I damaged my LH 25A blade fuse and had to crimp the wire together because I was without a spare. I drove home 55 miles like this and she ran fine. Could I have damaged anything?
Cheers,
-Greg
