1988 240DL, B230F, will not fire up after timing belt change-out 200

Ok, now a "poser"...
Valve spring is replaced, retainer, and keepers in, all is well.
Cam back in, pulley properly in place.
New rear, lower, and upper timing belt covers in place.(upper off for now)
New idler and timing belt in place.
Crank pulley never touched or moved.
Balancer back on correctly, with the key lined up. When #1 is TDC, piston is where it should be.
Cam pulley dead on as well. Rotor on Distributor is pointed at #1.
Had a little learning curve with the new idler adjustment procedure, but everything is now lined up and happy.
Fuel is present.
Spark is wonderful.
Engine won't fire. What is the fatal flaw I have overlooked? I am convinced it is a "timing" thing. It started once, ran poorly like a real bad timing job. This was my "learning curve" on the idler. My neighbor, current BMW Service GM, former Volvo/MBZ/BMW wrencher showed up just then, and helped with my education. However, even he is stumpted now with this "no start" situation.

Let me know what y'all think.
Regards,
Bill
