We had our ‘89 Wagon painted by Miracle 6 years ago. The color we chose was to match the original graphite/gray color of which it looked really nice when they were done, a bit more “metallic”-but that’s fine. The original paint was getting fairly oxidized and it was time for the paint job. Of course some colors oxidize faster than others of which I think the gray is one of them. The brick sets out in the sun with no shade all day and next to a light colored building so the reflective rays get to it also. The sides and back of the brick are doing well, but the hood and roof are the ones mostly getting oxidized. Mind you I do keep the brick washed and waxed. We called Miracle and asked about just painting those parts-they said they would-but for another $150 we could paint the whole car, which seems it would be ridiculous not to. We did get their “top of the line” paint job back then, but you know, any paint job from a company like Miracle, or Earl Sheib or Maaco is no where near an independents $3000+ paint job. .We have considered it tho--just a bit much at one time for us. Pocket book just wont go for $2000, $3000, so $800 every 5-6+ years works. The body is in great shape, never been in an accident, no dents or dings. Interior is black/ charcoal, very nice-no rips or tears. Since it’s also in great shape mechanically, we expect to have it for a long time to come. Most likely we will get the paint job about summer 2012, so we got time to ask questions and ponder. One major ponder would be the color-might be nice to change colors-tho not sure what color. The metallic gray looks nice, but just thought we would consider a change. There’s a really nice darker grey paint job on the new Ford Fiesta -looks really great-very ‘metallic”. Miracle said they can look in a ”book” and match a lot of factory colors pretty close with the paint code. We also are considering some blues, no black-no white. Nothing “gawdy”. Maybe a ”midnight blue“? Everyone has their own preferences -so im just asking opinions- what would your choices be? Try to picture the paint on an ‘89 245 with a chrome roof rack. . Many colors we have seen look really nice-but in our minds some colors just wouldn’t “look right” on our wagon. We were considering a “2-tone” job , but decided against it.
