Thanks for your recommendations. I don’t know as that you noted I mentioned that the wagon is in the sun all the time during the day-(and night)-next to a highly reflective building when parked. It’s our only assigned parking space in our apartments. None of the parking places have shade. I also mentioned it’s only the roof and hood I have concerns about and I would have only them painted if it were reasonable, but it’s not. . Also, I took off the roof rack before the paint job. I also did put in brand new well-nuts in all the holes after the paint cured. .A year ago I took it to a professional detailer to have it washed, buffed and waxed just to see if they could revitalize it more than I. They told me the roof wasn’t too bad compared to the hood, and the hood was pretty much ”going“. They advised against any sort of rubbing compound on the hood or roof as it would only make it worse. “Just use a good wax“-which I do. There is no cracking or crazing anywhere. Just like it’s wearing thin-oxidizing-a milky-ness that won’t rub out. . I have used Maguire’s exclusively,. also there’s no damage anywhere. If the hood and roof were in as good shape as the rest of it, I wouldn’t even be thinking of a new paint job. The sides and back of the wagon are bright and shiny. I’ve had various opinions as to which is the best -Maaco-or Miracle-I’ve heard good for both and have heard both bad-mouthed. Bottom line is the hood paint is going-going-not gone yet, rubbing it out would only serve to make it :”go out” faster. I do keep it waxed tho. I don’t know as the wear is “normal” for Miracle, sitting 3 feet from that bright building and having the sun bake it all day especially in the summer. I also don’t know as that Maaco would have done any better-who knows? I always do keep all my windows slightly cracked open when parked so the internal heat doesn’t build up as much. That’s also helped keep the interior nice . I did mention to Miracle I am concerned about the layers of paint. They said they will sand it down but not to metal unless I want to pay a lot more. A lot!! And they really don’t usually do that anyway. Oh, I don’t know if you recommended I permanently remove the roof rack? It comes in handy occasionally so I’d rather not. We however do not put anything on the roof that would compromise the paint there, or the roof itself , just a personal choice. When it is painted again I will endeavor to do my best to keep it up. I’ll also contact Maaco and have a chat with them. Thanks’ again.
