Both of the horns on my '93 945T have been on death's doorstep. They finally quit working, so I had to replace them in order to pass annual inspection.
I picked up a single FIAMM (sp?) horn at Advance Auto. The replacement horn is the two-wire type -- same as the originals. I figure this will be an easy job -- I'll be in and out in 5 minutes. I cut off the Volvo connectors, crimp on some spade connectors and plug the new spade connectors into the horn. Much to my surprise, it didn't work! ;-/
After much fiddling around, I got it to work by running fused power directly to one of the horn terminals, and connecting one of the original wires to the horn's other terminal to provide a ground.
In poking around with my multi-meter, both of the original wires appear to be ground wires. (?) This has me stumped. I know this is something simple that I am just not understanding. Any insight is appreciated.
TIA
